Dr. Lamps obtained his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 1990, and went on to graduate from medical school at Vanderbilt University in 1995. He completed the first three years of his psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt before moving to Little Rock in 1998 to complete two years of residency training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is currently a staff physician at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the Medical Director of the UAMS Child Study Center. He spends most of his time either treating a broad range of childhood mental illnesses, or teaching physicians-in- training about the same subject.
