Ms. Courtney is the HIV/AIDS Education Coordinator for the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) in the Office of Comprehensive School Health. In her five years with ADE she has taken on many tasks, including coordinating the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), and the School Health Education Profile (SHEP). She has provided numerous trainings in HIV/AIDS prevention, tobacco prevention, comprehensive health education, policy development and assessment. She has worked on organizing, planning, and presenting at various health conferences in the state, and has also worked on developing assessment tools at the national, state and local level.
A two-time recipient of Whos Who Among Americas Teachers, Ms. Courtney received her B.S.E. and M.S. degrees from the University of Central Arkansas in health education, and spent eleven years teaching health and physical education in the Heber Springs middle school. Her years spent in the classroom has motivated her to do her best in getting as many available materials and resources to out to the teachers and into the classrooms of Arkansas.
