Dr. Portilla, Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, is a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She is one of four attending physicians in the Adolescent Medicine Division.

 

 

Dr. Portilla received her medical degree from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, South America. She completed her pediatric internship at Charity Hospital/Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed her pediatric residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital/St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Portilla has served as faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at St. Louis University School of Medicine, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

 

 

Dr. Portilla has given presentations on eating Disorders at local, regional, national, and international meetings. She also provides training in eating disorders to pediatric residents at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Her main research interest is in the area of medical complications of anorexia nervosa, specifically osteoporosis. She is the medical director of the Arkansas Adolescent Eating Disorder Program.
